Hungry
but have no time to cook? Then Grub
Guru is definitely for you!
Carb-smart menus (compatible with
the South Beach and Atkins’ diets), conventional
menus of healthy comfort foods, vegetarian and
vegan alternatives, and organic ingredient options
provide enough variety for any health-conscious
New Yorker.
Though Grub Guru LLC is a new company,
Mariya Gluzman, its founder and personal chef,
has informally studied culinary arts and has
been cooking for friends and family for many
years. After switching to a carb-smart regimen
and researching the leading low-carb diets and
related nutritional information, she was faced
with the same problem most other low-carbers
face every day: not enough variety.

Mariya Gluzman, its founder
and personal chef
Be it the Atkins diet or the South
Beach diet, after several weeks you run out of
meal options. And since the food industry is
not geared toward low-carb eaters (much like
it disregards vegetarians), trying to find new
things to enjoy is a problem. So, she went to
work, devising new and creative ways to help
people stick with the diet without cheating.
Whether you have to watch what you eat because
of diabetes or heart problems, or simply want
to eat healthier, Grub Guru's eclectic fifty-plus-item
menu is bound to have something you'll enjoy.
The menus represent a work in progress and will
expand to include even more exciting food choices
and international favorites.
As a health-conscious person, your
personal chef will try to purchase natural produce
and grocery items whenever available without
any extra charge to you. Of course, you can choose
a natural/organic option for a small fee, in
which case only all natural and certified organic
ingredients will be used.
Grub
Guru can also help you figure
out which foods to avoid if you are watching
your carb intake and even make healthy lunch
lists for you.
In addition to comprehensive personal
chef services, Grub Guru also provides small
party catering (such as BBQ parties, private
dinners, etc.), hot meal service (private chef
option), cooking demonstrations and workshops.
In more ways than one, Grub Guru
is the path to your gastronomic satisfaction!

Nestled on
quiet Fifth Avenue, Aunt Suzie's is a tried-and-true
staple of Park Slope. "Suzie" sends
out regular newsletters to regular patrons,
and gives $10 off your birthday meal if you've
been smart enough to put yourself on her mailing
list. The decor is mid-'50s Brooklyn, with
photos from someone's family album framed on
the walls. The room is spacious yet cozy and
brightly lit, with plenty of room for you and
the kids to spread out if need be. The food
is pleasant and unthreatening; it's your standard
Italian fare, for people who don't feel like
cooking it themselves.
This place
is a well-established Park Slope tradition.
The food is tasty, well-prepared and much like
the way you would expect a relaxing Italian
Sunday dinner to be. You won't ever go wrong
at Aunt Suzie's.
This upbeat
family-style Italian restaurant will remind
you of an earlier era, as will the prices.
It offers friendly service, large portions
of food and a child-friendly setting. The rose-colored
dining room has mix and match vintage tables
and chairs, framed family photographs on the
walls and brass ceiling fixtures. Manicotti,
ravioli, eggplant, pasta with prosciutto and
all seafood dishes are popular here. The cannoli
and walnut pie make excellent desserts.
